Basic Recovery Support
|
Overview
Basic Recovery Support was developed by Dr. Carolyn Coker-Ross, a specialist in the treatment of eating disorders and integrative medicine to enhance the treatment of patients who suffer from eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and compulsive overeating. The products included in the Basic Recovery Support are the result of extensive research and are designed to:
- Replace vitamins and minerals that are often depleted in individuals with an eating disorder
- Treat co-occurring disorders that are commonly found in those with eating disorders – including depression and anxiety
- Offer natural therapies for the treatment of the common digestive complaints that individuals with eating disorder experience, such as constipation, bloating, abdominal cramping
Basic Recovery Support is a unique combination of nutritional supplements that has been tested on eating disorder patients in a large inpatient facility as part of an integrative medicine protocol for the treatment of eating disorders. Other components of the protocol included acupuncture, shiatsu, chiropractic, massage and energy healing along with standard conventional eating disorder treatment. The study showed that the use of the dietary supplement protocol reduced reports of digestive complaints significantly and reduced the use of conventional medications for constipation dramatically.
Taking the Basic Recovery Support on a daily basis may help restore energy, reduce fatigue, improve mental performance and mood. It should be used as part of a whole-person approach to the management of eating disorders. For more information about the integrative medicine approach to eating disorders see Dr. Ross's book Healing Body, Mind and Spirit: an Integrative Medicine Approach to the Treatment of Eating Disorders.

The Basic Recovery Support is not a cure or by itself, a treatment for eating disorders. It should be used in conjunction with recommended therapies for your eating disorder.
The Basic Recovery Support has no products that have an affect on your weight.
The Basic Recovery Support will help your body restore normal bowel function. It contains no laxatives or any other product that will stimulate the bowel.
Dr. Ross found that by giving her patients natural products that support their body's own ability to heal itself, she was able to use less of the prescription medications, lowering their side effects. She also found that patients became more energetic and more able to think clearly when they were receiving these nutritional supplements. In speaking with hundreds of eating disorder treatment professionals, Dr. Ross was asked many times "Where do I get these vitamins, which company should I use?" In response to this, she has developed the Basic Recovery Support through a very well known and tested supplement company so that patients, nutritionists and other providers who treat eating disorders can feel comfortable recommending and using this protocol.
